For 60 years, Airbus has been serving the world’s armed forces with a full range of target systems that provide realistic and cost-effective training for ground and naval air defence and air-to-air combat. Among the most widely used in the range is the Do-DT25, designed to provide threat simulation for surface-to-air and air-to-air missile training and evaluation for radar as well as infrared guided missile systems and gunnery.

Airbus’ Bird of Prey leverages the proven, reusable Do-DT25 as a low-cost, missile-equipped interceptor to counter mass one-way attack drones, complementing traditional air defence assets and protecting high-value infrastructure.

In a flight demonstration in March 2026, the Bird of Prey autonomously searched for, detected, classified, identified and engaged a medium-sized kamikaze drone.

This new mid-range air defence against low-cost threats is seamlessly integrated into NATO C2 architecture (NATINAMDS).
